Diane Prewitt War Room was so well written that you felt for every character and couldn't wait to see what was happening. It isn't a "self help" or "this is the way to get God to move" book. It is a fictional story as far as I know. It's just such a wonderfully inspiring story. I like how it doesn't portray Christians as "perfect and having it all together".
They make it clear it is through a relationship with Jesus that things can change in your life. Grace is shown throughout this story and that is so important. I got so much enjoyment from this story.
I felt a range of emotions and I was able to get lost in the story. I felt like I knew this family. It is such a sweet approach to an important part of Christianity.
Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with Jesus.
In the back of the book there are discussion questions. So, if you want to get a small group going, the questions are back there for you already. Also there are color photos in the center of the book from the movie making. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Jesus. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. A great big thank you to Tyndale house Publishing for my free copy of this book in return for my honest review. Paperback Verified download.
My wife and I saw the movie that this novel is based on when it was first released. We enjoyed it so much that I wanted to read the book.
I finally got the opportunity and was again blown away by the powerful story of the impact one person can have on others. Chris Fabry has done an excellent job of turning the movie into an exciting book. This moving story of a marriage that was ready for the trash heap stirred me deeply as Miss Clara begins to share with Elizabeth about her prayer life and Elizabeth begins to grasp the principles that Miss Clara is pouring into her life.
So often someone touches our life and we sense something special there but we move on and soon forget it. Elizabeth listened and decided she had nothing to lose since she felt at the end of her wits.
For most people, they see a new discipline as an all or nothing proposition. From my perspective, Elizabeth seemed to start slowly, testing out what Miss Clara shared. As she saw a bit of light, she was encouraged to go deeper. Before long, she is all in and seeing the true power of prayer. By that point her daughter and her husband have started to notice some changes. Although this is a novel, I believe it accurately portrays the impact that sincere, honest prayer can have in a life, a marriage, a home, and beyond.
I encourage you to read this book, whether or not you have seen the movie. You will find it worth your time. Kindle Edition Verified download. I loved this book because the story was engaging and one that many readers could relate to; a story of a struggling marriage, a spouse flirting with temptation, children suffering silently and no one willing to change first because pride ruled their hearts.
The story takes the reader through the process of God softening and changing the hearts of many characters in this novel, even some characters the reader wasn't expecting to see changes in.
What I enjoyed most about this book is that prayer is thoroughly explained throughout this book. The author takes great pains to emphasize that prayer is not for God's benefit but rather our benefit.
When we as Christians take the time to seek the Lord with all our heart, He is able to change us from within. The beauty of this story is that it speaks the truth by emphasizing we can't change others, we can only change ourselves, and genuine change comes by repentance and submission to the Lord. If I had one complaint about this book, it would be the frequent references of skin color when introducing characters. Let's get past that, ok?
Otherwise this is a great novel that has inspired me to make my own "prayer closet"! I look forward to seeing the movie when it comes out as well! Vickie Vickie's Kitchen and Garden. Sometimes you become so intrigued by a story that you just have to shove aside frugality for the moment and just download the book.
That's the way the War Room: Prayer is a Powerful Weapon was for me. I kept seeing my friends posts on Facebook about this story and decided it's was worth seeing what all the fuss was about. Once I started reading I just couldn't put this book down, staying up most of the night finishing it.
The riveting story itself was a page turner.
This book made me want a War Room of my own. I can't imagine a vacant spot for a prayer room in my home but I'm considering clearing something out!
